Objectives
- To improve health and safety outcomes and reduce the likelihood and consequences of major accident events across the offshore petroleum industry.
- To ensure the administration of health and safety regulation of the offshore petroleum industry is provided to standards that are equal to the best in the world.
- To further reduce the regulatory burden on the offshore petroleum industry, which operates across multiple jurisdictions, by working with other government agencies to deliver an efficient and effective whole of government approach to occupational health and safety regulation.
Role
- To work with the industry, workforce and other authorities to ensure all health and safety risks in the offshore petroleum industry are properly controlled.
- To administer offshore petroleum health and safety legislation.
- To promote a legislative framework which encourages continuous improvement in the management of health and safety in the offshore petroleum industry.
