Continuous Improvement

NOPSA's Corporate Plan commits it to ensuring that:

“the administration of health and safety regulation of the offshore petroleum industry is provided to standards that are equal to the best in the world”
This Objective is being pursued through the development of a Quality Management system governing all organisation's processes, and a Competency Management programme for all staff.

Competency Management

NOPSA has designed an in-house competency programme to train all inspectors to a uniform standard in a core set of competencies. It was decided that to attain and maintain the position of a world class regulator, NOPSA should assist its employees in attaining competency based, academically recognised qualifications. After assessing several tertiary institutions, the University of Ballarat was chosen to provide recognition of NOPSA's in-house competency programme as a major component of a post graduate diploma. The University had also established working relationships with other participants in the petroleum industry and clearly established their interest in the area of health and safety in the engineering sector.

NOPSA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Ballarat, outlining areas of cooperation.
